Things you should know before purchasing a custom print
25.09.2009
Two nights ago I met up with a client to discuss about her bare wall dilemma. Lets face it, we’ve all experienced it; or will experience the pain of decorating the living space. Linda was looking to purchasing art for her wall but was seeking advice before pulling the trigger on a purchase. Her most imporant concern about photo(s) were it had fit with earth tone apartment colours and hopefully feature trees as the main subject. Once at home, I put together these three examples using just my iphone and photoshop to composite photos like they were prints – adjusted colours, left a drop shadow, faked light fall off and tada!
Things you should know before printing:
- Remember to take measurements
- Sample colours of your living room
- Use print shops as your reference to build an understanding of all the different types of printing methods
- Lastly creating a mock up helps in determining an initial if not final output before throwing down big bucks on something you won’t know until you’ve created it! If you aren’t that tech/art savy, ask a friend who’s more familiar with the software. I bet you 8/10, a friend you know used photoshop.
